Moxie by Zoya

Gotta love Zoya, they have over 300 nail polish shades to choose from, all are gorgeous.  The thing is, I have trouble browsing their Color Selector.  At first you take note of certain colors that catch your eye.  You may begin looking at the shades based on color, then undertone, checking opacity on a 1 to 5 scale, if it is glitter or shimmer or frost or aaaah…  It’s maddening, too many nail polish variables to navigate!  Eventually, I tire of that game, and stop using logic entirely.  I start picking names that I feel connected with.  I know, its a horrible way to pick nail polishes… anyhow, on to the color at hand!

I have a cat named Moxie Crimefighter; so of course Moxie jumped in my check-out basket as quick as she could.  Not my cat Moxie (she doesn’t really do “jump”), Moxie by Zoya of course!  I had seen this shade swatched several times before, and it always just looked alright.  Once I tried it on though, I loved the color straight away.  It is a gorgeous magenta creme, that appears a bit muted and darkened.

I think Moxie is going to be my go-to shade for Fall.  I love it!  Funny thing is, I had been looking for a “dark hot pink”, so to speak, when I was at Ulta the other day without any luck.  My search is over… for now!  hehe

Tag taken from Kellie Gonzo

Hi everyone!  Kellie Gonzo just did this tag and it looked like fun; she tagged everyone so here’s mine!  I use a lot of drugstore products.  I tend to use the same things for years, and hardly ever change unless something becomes discontinued; my skin is very sensitive to many chemicals and fragrances, so it’s difficult to find something that doesn’t cause an allergic reaction.  It’s a “What you’re using right now” tag, although I’m scrubbed clean for bedtime, so I’m going to fill it in with my everyday products!

Loretta by Zoya

This nail polish is called Loretta by Zoya.  I purchased this shade simply because my mom is named Loretta.  I didn’t really examine the color or finish when ordering, and I haven’t come across swatches anywhere online.  It is a very sheer, milky, soft pink; it really looks natural and would be great for a French Manicure.  It seems like this color would be overlooked because it is so tame, but I like the way it lets the moons and tips of my nails become the focus.  This is such a change for me since I’ve been wearing outrageous glitter for the past two weeks.  I have three coats of Loretta in this picture; I didn’t paint my tips white, that is just how they are.

This is the very first time I’ve used a Zoya polish and I already love them!  The formula is superb!  I love the bottles, they’re so chic!  The brushes are good quality!  Exclamation points!  There are so many beautiful colors from this company, I feel another Zoya order coming on very soon!

P.S. I find it mildly amusing that Zoya’s Loretta nail polish is the exact shade my mom Loretta hates with a passion.  She would never be caught wearing light pink.

Zoya – Mini Haul

I got my package from Zoya, and immediately ripped it open!  I recieved: Roxy, a purple glitter; Moxie, a cool-tone deep hot pink creme; Blair, a blackened deep red shimmer; Loretta, a sheer milky pink; and Celine (not pictured), a warm-toned hot pink creme.  I’m upset: I didn’t order Celine, I ordered Drew!  Moxie and Celine are practically duplicates of eachother!  The number on my invoice matches the color Celine, so the mix-up is likely user-error; Valerie should not be ordering online so late at night with so many colors to choose from.  Oh well, I’ll just have to place another order to get Drew, and a couple others I’ve had my eye on.  I will be wearing these very soon and posting some pictures of them!  Take a look at some bottle shots in the meantime!

P.S. I apologize in advance, but won’t be showing photos of Celine because it does not look good on me.  I have already given it to my warm-complexioned mother, Loretta.

Zoya Polishes!

I’m SO excited!  When Zoya had the Twitter 5000 followers promotion, I jumped on the chance to own my very own Zoyas!  I have never tried this brand before, but I’ve seen the lovely swatches on other’s blogs.  I only picked out five which was very hard, and at the time I didn’t want to get (too) crazy.  Ever since August 5th I’ve been waiting for my goodies, checking it’s progress across the USA on UPS.com.  Every day, kicking myself for not ordering more, and paying extra for the 2 day express shipping.  My Zoya package finally arrived today, two weeks after ordering.  However, since I live in an apartment complex, I have things shipped to my Dad’s house the next town over…. I think I might burst!  I can’t wait until my husband picks it up on his way home!
